60th birthday celebration of former German Foreign Minister Meckel

Celebration of the 60th Birthday of German former Foreign Minister Markus Meckel.

The Foreign Office and the German Federal Foundation for the Reconciliation after the SED Dictatorship organised today a ceremony to mark the 60th birthday of German former Foreign Minister Markus Meckel.

Under the title: "The promotion of freedom and democracy as a dimension of European foreign policy”, the ceremony will celebrate Markus Meckel’s commitment to democracy and freedom in Central and Eastern Europe.

Minister of State Michael Link, MP presented the Laudatio.

of Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament,

- Dietmar Nietan, MP, Member of the Committee for the

EU Affairs of the German Bundestag,

- Dr. Joerg Forbig, The German Marshall Fund of the United

States.
