According to the information provided by the Navy of Mexico the now arrested claims to be Mario Cárdenas Guillén, aka "El M-1" or "The Fat" (el Gordo) alleged leader of the Gulf Cartel and brother of Osiel Cardenas Guillen.

The capture of who claims to be the leader of the Gulf cartel - CDG was held in Altamira, Tamaulipas (northeast border of mexico)when carrying a long gun at the entrance of a building.

Who claims to be one of most wanted Mexican drug leaders until now, was captured with a rifle, three magazines supplied with 30 rounds of ammunition each, two fragmentation grenades, Mexican currency cash, communications equipment, vehicles and four small packages containing white powder with the characteristics of cocaine, and various bank cards, department store and different identifications.

After his capture, the alleged criminal and drug trafficker, was transferred to Mexico City for presentation to the press and start the process of investigations and accusations by the Attorney General's Office - PGR.
