Grenade attack in peaceful town of Bongaigaon injures six
A grenade attack by the insurgent group United Liberation Front of Assam occurs in the peaceful town of Bongaigoan in Assam. The blast has left six injured and coincides with the visit of Indian politician Rahul Gandhi.
At around 830 pm IST ,a Grenade attack was carried out in the Pagalnala area of the peaceful town Bongaigaon post the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi's visit in the violence affected areas of Assam. The attack has left 6 injured.
Bongaigaon, a mixed ethnicity and a relatively newly developed town in western Assam, has never seen violence and was spared from the ongoing violence where four lakh people have been reported displaced and 95 killed. Today, with this act, it joins the long list of cities where terror attack is just another usual day.
A suspect was nabbed by the CRPF and has confessed to the act. He is reportedly to be a ULFA Cadre. The authorities have reported that the impact of damage was lesser as the grenade used was of Chinese Origin.
