Tower cranes across Sydney come to a standstill in honour of Joe Owens

Cranes at building sites across Sydney stopped work for one minute at 11.00am in memory of Joe Owens, former secretary of the Old Builders Labourers Federation NSW, who died at his home in Nambucca Heads, on 6th September.
He helped ban the dangerous ‘riding the hook’ practice, where crane hooks were used to transport workers to the top of building sites.
