Pahari Chhatra Parishad (Indigenous Student council) formed a rally in the capital protesting the attack on the indigenous people by the Bangali settlers in Rangamati.
At least 20 people were injured in a clash between indigenous students and Bangalee settlers over a trifling matter at Kawkhali upazila headquarters.
The settlers set fire to the upazila office of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) during the clash.
The brawl ensued at Kawkhali College when some Bangalee students beat up an indigenous student over boarding a CNG-run three wheeler.
UPDF in a press release condemned the incident and blamed the Bangalee settlers for burning down their office. It demanded arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment to them.
