I took these images from two affected areas in Marikina, Manila, Philippines after storm ONDOY blew into town on September 27,2009. One is at Provident Village, a middle-class neighborhood of nice cars and big villas. The other place is in an urban poor section of Marikina called Bgy. Tumana. Ondoy didnt choose which section to ravage. It ravaged no matter what. But Filipinos are resilient. Many will survive this. But there were the weaker who were not as lucky though. The recovery is now ongoing but many areas are still crying out for the basics of food and water. Residents are also now asking for medicine to treat their wounds sustained from the storm's angry lashing.

Marikina City in Manila was devastated by the flooding due to typhoon Ondoy on the 27th of September. It left more than 240 people dead. Reconstruction is slow for the many who have no resources to immediately rebuild. Manila, Philippines. 30/09/2009
