Warsaw is participating in the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Today at the Cracow Square in the center of Warsaw will fall the imitation wall which is yesterday made of 5 large styrofoam blocks, wood and cement by Warsaw Art School students.

Today at 10am 4 Polish ( Jakub Slomkowski, Marcin Pasrosz, Tycjan Knut and Agnieszka Adamska) and 1 Spanish ( Daniel Del Rosal Garcia) artists are painting the styrofoam blocks with freestyle paintings. Over the whole length of the wall you can see also the numbers 1 till 136. These numbers stands for the 136 people who died during their escape from the at that time communist Germany. They got killed by the military machineguns when they tried to climb over the Berlin wall. The last person who died was just a few weeks before the fall of the wall.

In the afternoon at 2 pm every visitors is free to write or paint something on the wall and there is a live band playing music. One of the visitors is the Ambassador of Germany Mr. Michael H. Gerdts. At 3pm they give the sign to break the wall. People pushing and jumping on the fallen wall , one of them is the Ambassador, and at the end there is a toast on freedom.
