Congressman Satur Ocampo of Bayan Muna (People’s First) and Congresswoman Liza Maza of Gabriela Women’s Party filed their certificate of candidacy. The two progressive party-list representatives seek to bring at a higher level their parliamentary struggles by running for the Senate. Manila, Philippines. 29/11/2009.
The two representatives are known for their patriotic and principled stand against corruptions and human rights violations in the Philippines. They are known critics of the regimes of anti-people and anti-democratic policies.
Thousands of supporters marched the streets to show support for them. “It is not the two representative’s selfish interest that brought them to seek seats in the senate but it is their heeding to the people’s demand for them to continue on promoting and fighting for their democratic interest in the Upper House of representatives.” a supporter said.
They cheered and danced with the representatives as the atmosphere became celebratory as the people chanted "MAKABAYAN SA SENADO!"...
