Anarchipelag Collective organized a benefit concert in Warsaw for the La Strada Foundation. Warsaw, Poland. 10/12/2009.
The event took off with a show of the female performance art group TERAZ POLIŻ , LIMINALNA. The show was named “Jestem snem, którego nie wolno mi śnić” and directed by Marty Ogrodzinski. The performance highlighted issues about prostitution, traffic and other women’s concerns.
Later at the evening the band BETTY BE played a live concert, defending and promoting human rights around the world. Betty Be is an alternative punk band lead by Lady Graza (guitar, vocals), an ex Los Trabantos member. With Ula de Lux playing bass, Bejonz on the sax and vocals and the only guy in the band, Groovy Dave, plays the drums.
During the event, you could visit organizations dealing with human rights (particularly women's rights) or eat a vegetarian meal served by Vegavani.
The La Strada Foundation is a NGO working against Trafficking in Woman. In 1995 a pilot project started in Warsaw and the program was Prevention of Traffic in Women in Central and Eastern Europe. Eight successful years later the program expanded to a network of 9 independent, coordinated offices in Poland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Belarussia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Macedonia and Moldova.
