China rejects EU proposal to developing countries

Vice Foreign Minister of China, He Yafei, stated today at COP15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, that China wants much more money for developing countries, than EU will offer.

EU has offered 7.2 billion Euro to developing countries, over the next three year, so they can cope with climate change. He Yafei points out, that developing countries need more help from the industrial countries. Especially islands in the Pacific Ocean and poor African countries. Industrial countries should pay at least a half to a whole percent of their BNP per year, to less fortunate countries.

He Yafei also states that the chief negotiator of the United States, Todd Stern, is lacking common sense, as the United States is not willing to help China with economically.

"Todd Stern is not unintelligent, but he needs common sense or is extremely irresponsible," said the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, He Yafei, at the press conference.
