Thousands of Bangladeshis gathered at the Jatiyo Smriti Soudho (National Memorial) to celebrate the Victory Day of Bangladesh. People painted their faces with the flag of Bangladesh and decorate themselves with bandanas and flags to celebrate the event at this memorial site which was built in the memory of those who were killed in the Liberation war of 1971. On this day 16th December 1971, the nation achieved victory from the Pakistani occupation forces after a nine-month sanguinary Liberation War, at a cost of millions of lives.
