In an emergency meeting on Sunday evening seven ministers in the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a long discussion to decide whether they accept a proposal for a prisoner release deal for abducted Israeli soldier Gila Shalit.
He has been held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas militants since his capture in late June 2006. Media reports suggest that this is a crucial time in the negotiations for Shalit's release and ministers resumed discussions on December 21, 2009.
