Every Saturday night at Jerusalem’s Ben-Yehuda pedestrian mall a local man urges “street kids” to quit fighting and refocus towards productive goal. In this case, by holding hip-hop, ‘pop n lockin’ break-dancing training sessions. Jerusalem, Israel. 28/11/2009. The scheme started some four years ago and has become a success, according to Jerry Grushkin of Lakewood, New Jersey. Grushkin, a caterer by profession, sees himself as a go-between with police and city authorities when the street youth find themselves alone in the holy city, with nowhere to go. While some of the teens have families to go home to, many are from broken homes and prefer to spend most of their time on the streets, and in the company of their peers.
