Stage 1 start from Bukittinggi to Bonjol, Pasaman, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Stage 1 distance was 104 km, and the route profile tend to decline, except at Batung Baririk area, Pasaman. Average speed of winner was 42,38 km/hour.
Sumatra Barat Governor, Irwan Prayitno; accompanied by the province’s Vice Governor, Muslim Kasim; Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy who concurrently serves as Executive Chairman of Tour de Singkarak, Sapta Nirwandar; Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) President, Jean-Etienne Amaury; Bukittinggi Mayor, Ismet Amzis; and Director General of Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Esthy Reko Astuti; as well as the Chairman of Indonesian Cycling Association (PB ISSI), Edmound JT. Simorangkir; and a number of Sumatra Barat’s public figures held a ceremonial procession of drumming the Gendang Tasa that marked the official launch of Tour de Singkarak 2013 taking place in 17 cities and regents in West Sumatra on June 2-9, 2013. Hundreds of Bukittinggi residents and all racers as well as Tour de Singkarak 2013 officials, took part at the festive launch, which was held in Jam Gadang park area, Bukittinggi.
Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sapta Nirwandar, said in his remarks during the launch event: “We are really grateful to all parties that have been endeavored to succeed this Tour de Singkarak 2013. Our gratefulness is to, among others are Bukittinggi Mayor, media that actively give good publication, and no less important, those that sponsors this year’s event which are BNI, Garuda, Daihatsu, Indosat and Semen Padang. This year, the event is getting more spectacular because we have the honor of the presence of Amaury Sport Organization President, Jean-Etienne Amaury.”
Meanwhile, Sumatra Barat Governor, Irwan Prayitno; and Chairman of PB ISSI, Edmound JT. Simorangkir expressed his appreciation and support to various parties that have made happen the event of Tour de Singkarak 2013. In this opportunity, the President of ASO, an entity that organizes sports events of Tour de France, Dakar Rally and Paris Marathon, Jean-Etienne Amaury said that he was delighted to be able to attend the launch of Tour de Singkarak 2013. He furthermore admitted that Tour de Singkarak has been in good progress since the first event held.
This tour has become the platform to promote West Sumatra to the international communities.
The launch celebration of Tour de Singkarak 2013 was enlivened by a series of cultural art performances staged by artists from Bukittinggi playing the blend of modern and traditional Minang songs. The event was peaked with impressive live by Purwacaraka Big Band, along with fireworks that were coloring Jam Gadang tower and evening cloud, making the breathtaking beauty of Bukittinggi.
