In her judgment, High Court judge Datuk Lau Bee Lan said usage of the word “Allah” in the Herald was
constitutional as long as the periodical was confined to educate the followers of the Christian faith.

However, following an appeal by Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail on Wednesday, Lau granted a stay of execution against her earlier ruling after meeting the parties in her chambers.
