THE LIFE OF FISHERMEN: This year i visited Digha, West Bengal, a small place on the shores of Bay of Bengal .I tried to capture the life of fishermen there. Its real hard life for them. They had to fight all odds like odd weather in the sea, dangers of the sea, poverty and many more. But they are brave enough and break out all the calamities with their mental strength. My snaps try to tell a portion of their life. In the 1st photo, we can see the troupe of boats getting ready to voyage the sea in search of fish. They are getting ready to catch a healthy lot of fish, which will earn them good money. They pray to god before going to waters, so that they can enlighten the faces of their family members with good earnings. Now, the 2nd photo showing a boat in the deep waters of mid sea, where the fishermen are fighting with various calamities to catch fishes. Generally, they catch fishes whole night, risking their lives throughout. 3rd photo shows tired fishermen returning during the time of sunrise. Some are happy because they got a good lot of fishes. Some are worried and upset because luck didn’t favoured them last night in the sea. But they accept both ,as this is only their life and they are forced to live with it. 4th snap depicts the unloading of the fishes from boats ,and very soon they are distributed in the local markets for sale. Some fishes (like 'SUNTKI') goes for further processing, which later on goes into the market. 5th snap shows the processing of 'SUNTKI' fishes, where they are dried in the open air and sunshine, and later sent to market. Thus, their life goes on with all hardships ,still they love to laugh and smile at the end of the day with their family members.
