On Thursday 4th Feb supporters of the Iranian Resistance movement demonstrated opposite Downing Street. They want the British government to condemn recent executions carried out by the Iranian regime. The rally takes place in a climate in which two individuals have been executed having been accused of playing a leading role in the recent unrest
The regime has sentenced a further nine people to death and is prosecuting opposition activists for the charge of "Mohareb", or enemies of God, which carries the death sentence. Senior Iranian officials have called for opposition activists to be promptly executed.
Some say the Iranian people are determined to achieve regime change, and further anti-government protests are planned to coincide with the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution. Iranian opposition supporters in the UK will declare their solidarity with protestors in Iran and urge the British government to condemn the actions of the Iranian regime and further impose comprehensive sanctions on the regime for its continued human rights abuses.
