The Striped Hyena can often travell up to 30 km a night in search of food, often this search brings him close to human villages and busy roads.
This is the story of one young striped Hyena in Israel`s Judean mountains west of Jerusalem that was hit by a car and spent the next 6 months recovering in a special Hospital and eventualy releasd back into nature.
The Hyena was fitted with a gps and telemetry device to help Israel`s Nature Authority keep track on the animals safe return into nature.
The Hyena spent the first week in a cave in the area of release with water and fresh road kill to help him get used to his new inviorment.
On the day of his release a carcass of Fallow Deer that was tagged in a different observation and died naturaly was taken to the Hyenas new teritory and was left on a rock bed with a camera observing it.
At first the Jackles came to check it out and later the striped Hyena came to feast on it.
