A procession from Marble Arch in central London to-day marked the 40th day after the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein. Hussein the warrior /scholar grandson of the Prophet Muhammad [pbuh], died fighting the army of the oppressive usurper Khalifa Yazid in 680 CE . Shia Muslims believe Hussein held the God given office of Imam, or leader of mankind. Many Sunni Muslims, and even non Muslims including Ghandhi, Carlyle, Dickens and Nehru, praised Hussein for saintly chivalry and obedience to his Creator, even unto death.
