Cowboy Life in the American West
Cowboy Life in the American West
Cowboys are part of the mythology of the American West, they were some of the first settlers in the West and provided for a nation. This set of photographs was taken on working ranches in Arizona and Montana during the spring round-up. United States. 18/05/2007.
This is a selection of photos I made covering roundups, the annual spring gathering of cows who spend the winter free grazing on the range, on ranches in Arizona and Montana. The roundup is a social occasion for the cowboys, their first big gathering of the new year. But it's also time of incredibly hard work because they have to find all of the cattle then inspect, inoculate, brand and castrate the new calves.
