Berlin. Since feb 12th 2010 the students occupying the main lectures room in the so-called FU (Freie Universität Berlin) were informing their fellows that the uni’s chancellor, Peter Lange, finished the university’s tolerance of their occupation. They hinted quite clearly at the fact that this end of tolerance was coming openly visible in a planned timeframe – it was clear that many of their fellows will be in Dresden, fighting against the nazi manifestation trial.
Today, on sunday early morning, in the ‘end of the night of Dresden’, the evacuation began. First “indoor security civil” persons were inside the lecure room 1A at 6 a.m. Police arrived at 8 a.m. with 5 police vans. 10 people arrested, first people set free since noon, at 2 p.m. they are still waiting for informations about last 2-3 people who still seem to be in the police building.
The lecture room 1A, located in the university's main building, was occupied by the students on november 11th 2009. They stress that the university's leaders showed ongoing deafness to their claims, interested only in the question when they plan to finish their occupation.
They began their occupation within the europeanwide universitiy occupation wave which had started in October 2009 in Vienna, Austria. Until today, they are fighting against both as well the consequences of the Bolgona Process 1999 - changing education to a pure econimical value - as well as an ongoing desocialization of the higher education's social environment which has already lead to first German states demanding tuition fees from students. This being a clear undisclaimable step to part society in classes, isolating poorer inhabitants from higher education, as well as a step to cement this division for coming generations.
They also hint at the fact that a cut of the state education etat coming with tuition fee demands from the state - is a further grounding of military structures also, every missile landing in sands in Afghanistan being partly sponsored by money which first had to be set free for this misuse - by exactly the same cuts of the social etat the students are criticizing globally.

![On saturday, March 14th, a manifestation against rising rents and gentrification as well as for a right for free spaces took place in Berlin (Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg). Around 3000-4000 people took part in it.
At the second part of the planned route it came to several escalations, which began with Berlin´s police trials to enter a house nearby the manifestation route, where activists were standing and jumbleing fliers up onto the manifestation. This action has not been the first, activists have been seen by the police on the roofs also before - during the first part of the manifestation. They have been tolerated, because the streets before were bigger and media escort higher. At Simon-Dach-Steet (nearby Revaler Street) a police-”Einsatzleiter” (officer-in-charge) must have had felt some lust for his personal career and commanded the entering of the house. As an effect the manifestation attacked the police car of the entering crew. The car had to escape quickly, without realization of the arrest plans.
Berlin´s police answered the car-attack with a tightening of their forces in Revaler Street. A person, fleeing not fast enough from the tightening police forces, has been arrested. The manifestation parted at this place then. At the evening several damages (to cars) have been counted.
The police had caused the injury of a person at 6:38p.m. (Frankfurter Allee / Petersburger Straße), you can hear voices of witnesses at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-RcQNOPosM .
As a special trick to keep own men away from accuses, the police wrote in their own official report, that the reasons for the person´s injuries are “unclear”, that the responsibility is unknown.
Unfortunately, two newspapers in Berlin have shown a serious unprofessionality of their work: the Berliner Morgenpost (March 15th.) and the Berliner Zeitung (March 16th) have quotated this part of police´s report without any own recherche work about it so far.

New: hi kolijko. there are more
hi kolijko. there are more pictures from the occupation itself. maybe not that "hype motives", but telling something about them, their aims and trial to change something.
yes, there are many picts from FU online. you can find e.g. "tents in the uni" on http://pic.atpic.com/de/1636434/600 or shots from one of their "full meetings" (vollversammlung - http://pic.atpic.com/de/1637928/600) or another full meeting which they spontaneously let happen in the uni main cantine http://pic.atpic.com/de/1644563/600, it was in nov 09, short after the occupation started. and of course, there are many other photographers' albums online if you search the web for them. about this night... as mentioned, many of their fellows were in Dresden in this night, the uni leadership new this.
anyway, my proposal would be to maby take a look at
http://gallery.atpic.com/de/32067
(students solidarizing with studentenwerk/ver.di - last week in nov 09)
and - btw - about evacuation photos. actually, if you are living in a main city you know how evacuations look like. maybe some shots from their more successful time will do it, instead. (satisfy your curiousity :)
New: interesting story. was
