Hundreds of RPP-N cadres and their supporters are sitting on the road leading to Singha Durbar in an attempt to block the entrances. RPP-N chairman Kamal Thapa is leading the demonstration in Bhadrakali, while other leaders are leading demonstrations in front of Padmodaya School, Putalisadak, Anamnagar and Maitighar.

Traffic in the area has been obstructed due to the demonstrations. There were brief clashes between RPP cadres and the police in Anamnagar area this morning in the course of the demonstrations. Some RPP-N cadres have been injured in the clashes, while few others have been arrested by the police.

A day after their valley bandh, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) staged a gherao(blockade) of Singha Durbar and sit in protest  on Tuesday,23/02/2010

Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) staged demonstrations around the country’s administrative hub Singha Durbar as part of agitation for timely constitution and referendum on some key issues including Hindu nation and constitutional monarchy to be incorporated in the new constitution.

Hundreds of RPP-N cadres and their supporters are sitting on the road leading to Singha Durbar in an attempt to block the entrances. RPP-N chairman Kamal Thapa is leading the demonstration in Bhadrakali, while other leaders are leading demonstrations in front of Padmodaya School, Putalisadak, Anamnagar and Maitighar.

Traffic in the area has been obstructed due to the demonstrations. There were brief clashes between RPP cadres and the police in Anamnagar area this morning in the course of the demonstrations. Some RPP-N cadres have been injured in the clashes, while few others have been arrested by the police.

The party held a joint mass meeting at Basantapur after the protest.The party president Kamal Thapa congratulated all for the success of the central capital protest program and demmanded the State to hold referendum on important political issues as the present Constituent Assembly has no right to decide on key topics with long-term implication on the nation like Hindu nation, federalism and the institution of monarchy. He and other party leaders expressed views openly supporting monarchy after a long time after announcement of republic of nepal.
