Gardner a convicted sex offender was let of prison in 2005 and is being investigated for possible over missing children cases. The search and the case has gotten national and local media attention. A small group of protesters held signs in front of the court house. District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis spoke shortly after Gardner’s arraignment but declined to discuss any evidence in the case. “We want to make sure that justice is done for Chelsea and we want to make sure that we do everything that we can to preserve the case and to make sure that the person responsible is held accountable,” she said. Gardner pleaded not guilty.
