On the 8th of March, each year UNAMID (UN and AU joint peace mission in Darfur) celebrate the International Women’s Day. Its aim is to bring up the issues that women in both developed and developing countries are faced with from social inequalities to gender based violence. UNAMID is not an exception. In Darfur, women play a vital role in the society, from farmers and construction workers and intellectuals to being mothers and wives. Some can argue that this important role is not always recognized. UNAMID’s campaign aims in the sensitization of the public both the internationals and the locals (including IDP’s).
