Robert Kranjec is Slovenia's top ski jumping athlete and this year's ski flying world cup winner. 16/03/2010.
Robert Kranjec (b. 1981) is Slovenia's top ski jumping athlete and holds the current national record in ski flying at 229m, achieved in Planica, Slovenia, in 2007. He is a member of national ski jumping team since 1998. His first world cup win came in Kuusamo in 2005/2006 season. He is also twelve times national champion. He won bronze medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City winter Olympic Games in team competition, and finished 6th in Vancouver.
He enjoys long jumps, big hills, and therefore prefers ski flying to ski jumping. This year, he won the ski flying world cup just before the end of the season in his favorite Planica, the largest ski jump in the world. Amazingly, Planica is where he once horribly crashed. Now he "owns it" so to speak. Slovenia's national champion and this year's ski flying world cup winner will go for another record in Planica this weekend.
