After a rainier and cooler than normal winter, wildflowers are blooming in Anza Borrego Desert State Park and the surrounding desert, attracting nature lovers and photographers. Presently the flowers are spotty, but a few areas are showing patches of sand verbena, brittlebush, desert dandelion, and dune evening primrose. Ocotillo are showing heavy blossoms and should be in full bloom soon. Two areas to check out are Coyote Canyon, at the north end of DiGiorgio Road, and on the north side of Henderson Canyon Road just east of Borrego Valley Road. The best plan is to visit the Anza Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center at the west end of Palm Canyon Drive for the latest information on wildflowers.
