Tuition Fee Hike Protest in Manila

Students protest in front of the Manila Police District headquarters in the Philippines capital on March 29th as they urge police officials to free their student leaders who were arrested 5 days before on charges of destruction of furniture and hoarding other belongings from a state university in Manila. Using broken tables and rundown chairs collected from classrooms, the students tried to dramatize the plight of education in the country. They were arrested while they were protesting against unlawful tuition fee increases as the country is already reeling from the effects of the financial crisis, many believe that tuition fee increases should not be permitted given the current financial situation of students in government funded universities.
