The Lingerie Football League (LFL) is a women's American 7-on-7 tackle football league with games played in Fall and Winter at NBA, NHL and MLS arena and stadiums. The concept originated from the Super Bowl halftime alternative television special called the Lingerie Bowl which draws millions of viewers as a pay-per-view event broadcast annually directly opposite the Super Bowl halftime show. The television show has become a staple of Super Bowl Sunday festivities for millions worldwide being broadcast in over 85 countries. Most of the teams are coached by former NFL players and coaches already well known in their respective cities.
A majority of the players have a background in competitive athletics. Many of the players have experience in other sports at the college and semi-pro level, such as track and field, tennis, volleyball, softball, soccer, basketball, and fitness-style bodybuilding. A few also have experience in tackle football from playing in semi-pro leagues. LFL has announced expansion plans for the 2010-11 season. The League has granted new franchises to both Orlando (Fantasy) and Baltimore (Charm) for the upcoming season. The New York Majesty and Denver Dream, both of whom finished winless in their inaugural seasons, will both suspend operations until at least 2011, in an effort to find a suitable arena or stadium for each team.
The San Diego Seduction lingerie football team held open tryouts at Balboa Stadium in San Diego, about 70 girls came to tryout including some returning players from last years 0 and 3 team. The Seduction looks to rebuild their team and have a winning season.
