United States Coast Guard Commander Kammer gives updates on the unfolding Deepwater Horizon incident and the actions underway by the joint efforts of the United States Coast Guard and BP plc. The statement is also followed by a short question and answer session regarding to the clean up effort and the solution to stopping the oil leak.
217,000+ ft of boom (barrier) has been assigned to the spill with more available if needed. Over 70 vessels and two C-130 airplanes are being used in the efforts.
United States Coast Guard Commander Kammer assured the public that all available steps were in place ready for the clean up operations even though a limited number of vessels went out to the oil slick on Friday because of the weather.
