Labor Day in Iran

The 1st of May in Tehran was a day to be celebrated as 'Labour Day', which demands basic rights for all workers.
In Iran there is high unemployment, very little right for workers, union leaders are routinely imprisoned and tortured and workers are constantly threatened not to speak out.
Due to the large security presence in Tehran the people that gathered in the streets despite this threat were dispersed, but there were reports of strong protests occuring in other cities in Iran.

And with impeccable timing Ahmadinejad made a surprise visit to Tehran University, where a spontaneous protest erupted.
Sadly there were numerous arrests made in Tehran on this day, with exact figures, as well as the location many people were taken to, being unknown.
Blogs claim the figures to be 30, or over 40 names - full details will only come to light when Iran has established free press and international observers.
The regime consistently claims there is little opposition in Iran.

These images showing the presence of heavy security in fact disproves the opposition's rhetoric, and points to the fact that the opposition is still very much alive in Tehran, and the regime is well aware of this.
