Tristram Hunt is declared as MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central constituency after beating LibDems, Conservative & BNP in to 2,3 &4 place respectively with a 5565 majority.

The Stoke Central seat was formerly the seat of Mark Fisher who retired on health grounds at the end of the last parliament. Simon Darby deputy leader of the BNP also decided to stand in this constituency. Alby Walker [IND] was formerly the leader of the BNP group in Stoke-on-Trent City Council until he left to stand for election in the general election.

Also standing was Gary Elsby who was fomerly a member of the Stoke Central Labour Group until he resigned after not making it on to the selection short list to be the Stoke Central candidate.
