Doctors at the centre recieve material for the artificial limbs through NGO organizations such as the "Red cross" and " Islamic relief".

The Artificial Limbs and Polio Centre of Gaza was established in 1975, and became known as the only centre in the field for making artificial limbs.

Recent statistics shows an increment in the number of children who have lost at least one or more of their limbs during the war in Gaza. The number is an estimated 6,500.
