Peaceful student protest in Ljubljana turns to violence

The organizers of the student protests will forever remember this day, when young individuals took control of the crowd throwing everything from eggs, toilet paper, vegetables, granite stones, signposts, including a molotov cocktail at the parliament building. When the first stone hit the parliament window the protesters were asked to step back, but students refused, and continued to attack the bulding until they had inflicted significant damage to it - windows were, statues were damaged, the facade and bushes in front of the parliament scorched. According to reports many of the students had been drinking which could have fuelled the violence further. Riot police formed a live wall and arrested some of the biggest trouble-makers. They also resorted to using pepper spray which made protesters even more violent as they began tearing down fences and throwing traffic signs, granite stones, sticks, bottles and eggs at the police. Eventually, the police calmly restrained the crowd. Organizers of the protest have already distanced themselves from any association with the violence by condemning the violent behaviour .
