Canadian journalist and Demotix contributor Chandler Vandergrift has finally been discharged from hospital, three weeks after being caught up in a series of grenade explosions during 'Red-shirt' political demonstrations in the Thai capital. Chandler 37, from Calgary in Canada received nearly 30 shrapnel wounds to his head and back from a series of grenade explosions. Despite his injuries, he told me today that he is keen to return to work as soon as possible and feels as if he is making really good progress each day. He is currently undergoing physiotherapy treatment to restore movement and feeling to his right arm and one of his legs, but appeared up-beat and cheerful during our hour-long chat.
