South China flood - Yangtze river at nearly 20m above flood stage.

Markers have been painted on the wall of a boat launch access point to measure the rising waters of the flooding Yangtze river (Chang jiang in Chinese) in downtown Jiujiang. On Saturday afternoon flood waters nearly reached 20 meters above flood stage. The accuracy of the markers could not be verified. Higher than normal rainfall this season has caused massive flooding damage to many parts of southern Chinese provinces including Jiangxi province, however, Jiujiang, due to its northern most location in the province, has avoided much of the destruction being caused in cities and rural areas further south.
