A group of enthusiasts from National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, visited Banjosa lake and Toli Peer traveling via the dangerous and steep roads of Rawalakot, during their summer break. Banjosa lake, Pakistan. 06/06/2010
Banjosa lake is located 20 kilometers from Rawalakot, at an altitude of 1981 meters. Its scenic beauty and impressive surrounding is compelling and attracts tourists to reach here to enjoy the nature for a possible comeback. Amidst the captivating beauty of Banjosa the artificial lake reflects the dense forest standing along the surrounding of the resting calm waters of Banjosa lake. 3 hours of drive on steep roads of Rawalakot and beyond, comes Toli Peer, a spiritual place and an attractive tourist spot.
Our ride for the trip was the ever reliable Toyota Hiace 14 person van. It took us 4 hours 30 minutes to reach Banjosa lake and another 1 and a half hours to reach toli peer from Islamabad using the following route.
Islamabad to Kahuta (35 KM) - Kahuta to Azad Pattan (31 KM) - Azad Pattan to Rawalakot (35 KM) - Rawalakot to Banjusa (17 KM) and Rawalakot to Toli Pir (30 KM)
For most of the part, the road was metallic thou broken at alot of places. repair and widening of roads are in full swing so we had quite a few delays due to traffic jam. The road near Rawalakot is the worst of all and is definitely a car breaker. The scenery beyond Banjosa towards Toli Peer is heaven, tight twisty roads, slight drizzle every now and then, beautiful hill views, and clouds passing by, is pure treat to watch and drive!
The road is steep but we saw Suzuki Mehrans, Suzuki Bolans, mini pajeros, Toyota LC70s, honda citys, and Jimnys all making it to the top.
Its a must go for every Pakistani nature lover.
