At a time when many people are forced to closely monitor their finances Friends of 17 Years Alan Stringer aged 50 and Wally Jinks aged 51 share a £2 million pound cheque from the UK National Lottery.

Wally's wife Dawn always buys and checks the lottery tickets for the boys but this time Wally and Dawn flew off to Holiday in the Channel Islands on the day of the draw leaving the ticket at home. The couple spent the 5 day break and a further six days after returning unaware of their millionaire status
Wally and Alan have played the Lottery with three Lucky-Dip lines since it began in 1994.

Wally told how his wife Dawn discovered the win "she finally checked them last Wednesday I didn't believe it when she showed me".

Alan picked up the story: "Wally called me and told me to come over quick. I checked and checked with them on the TV and computer then told them well done it looks like you have won. no we've won Wally told me"
