Dozens killed after Indonesia dam bursts
A dam on the outskirts of Jakarta collapsed early Friday, sending a wall of water smashing through hundreds of houses, authorities said.
At least 91 people were reported dead and about two dozen others were listed as missing. A makeshift mortuary was installed at the University of Muhammadiyah as rescuers searched for bodies.
The Situ Gintung dam collapsed in Cirendeu around 2 a.m. after of hours of heavy rain, sending the Pasanggrahan River raging into residential areas, reaching the roofs of houses, sweeping away some homes with families trapped inside.
