In a valley, closed by high and steep mountains which are favored by base jumpers you find the field of the goths. That is one way of translating the name of Gudvangur in Norway. Its limited field only inhabits 80 people and the only way to get there in modern time is through tunnels that have been carved out to shorten the rout from Bergen to Oslo, the two largest cities in Norway.

Thinking of Vikings you do not think of rock and roll. Your thoughts would rather fall towards barbarism, but then again that is a thought connected with rock and roll and therefore it should not come as a surprise that you will find it combined in Viking rock.

The first Viking rock festival in Norway held on 10th of July 2010 was no closer to barbarism than the modern time Vikings are. Peace loving people enjoying music with roots in the culture of the forefathers composing and performing music on bones and skin creamed with lyrics in old Norsk and Icelandic and it all came from groups with names equally as deep dug into the heathen world of the aesirs. Skvaldur translates to “mumbl”. Wardruna could be translated as the guarding runes. Valravn taken from the ravens name and all this music so mixed with modern times that metal heads coming for the Russian black metal group Arkona could equally enjoy the sound-walls from other more traditional seeking groups and ending the evening in the magical “seidur” of Wadruna before going to sleep knowing that the goths would wake over them and shield them with the high rising mountains.

Oskar Gudjonsson Saxaphone , Gardabear, Iceland, April 22 Icelands most famous Jazz group, Mezzoforte, came from touring in Africa to play on the opening night of Gardabaer city jazz festival in honor of Gardabaers son Oskar Gudjonsson current member of Mezzoforte and saxaphone player. The concert was great and the group had a standing ovation in the end.

Monday april 19 there where changes in one of the craters in the erupting Eyjafjallajokull. After spewing ash for almost a week the erupting volcano of changed as ice melted and now one of the craters is spewing lava
