Buenos Aires, Argentina. Called by churches and religious organizations, a rally was held opposite the Congress to express their rejection to the law that would allow gay couples to marry and adopt children. This law is to be discussed tomorrow, July 14, on the Senate, and has already passed the Lower Chamber. Christian rock and folk bands performed live, and religious leaders took the stand and gave speeches to the crowd.
A few blocks apart, at the Obelisco, gay organizations and supporters gathered as part of what was called a "ruidazo" (the slogan was to make noise as a sign of approval) to support the law. Gay leaders, and Buenos Aires' legislator María José Lubertino (former president of the INADI, the National Institute Against Discrimination) sang, danced and, influenced by the Football World Cup, blowed "vuvuzelas". The event was organized through a Facebook fan page.
