Generals attend road sealing ceremony in Kabul

New Zealand Army Maj. George Tweedy, walks with Bamyan Governor Habiba Sarobi on July 19 to a road sealing ceremony for a major section of the road connecting Bamyan Province to Kabul. Sarobi, along with most of the provincial government officials, the district governor, and heads of shuras from local villages were present for the event. Sarobi threw the first shovel of ‘hotmix’ onto the road, making it ready for the main asphalt paver machine to start work.
The Bamyan road will once again connect the agricultural province to the city enabling farmers to get their produce to the market much quicker. Bamyan province, once home to the ‘Bamyan Buddha’ statues produces potatoes, wheat, apricots and many other fruit varieties.
