Scouts' two-wheeled fundraiser from Land's End to John o' Groats
Scouts from York reach the mid-way point of their journey from Land's End to John o' Groats by bicycle to raise funds for charity. Liverpool, England. 06/08/2010
A group of fourteen Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Leaders from York, North Yorkshire embarked on the famed journey traversing the length of the island of Great Britain between Land's End in south-west England and John o' Groats in north-east Scotland.
The group took to two wheels to battle with everything a British summer could throw at them, from the hot sun to the soaking rain, and reached their approximate mid-way point in Liverpool after a week's cycling. Undeterred by rain and wind in north-west England, the group continued to drive north as organisers Michelle and Steve Wilson estimate just over a week remaining to reach John o' Groats.
The group are still accepting sponsorships and donations, which will go towards Scouting activities including sending a group of North Yorkshire Scouts to the World Scout Jamboree 2011, and to support the work of Martin House Children's Hospice in York.
