At approximately 05:35 local time a suspected car bomb exploded outside an office building located on Avenida Carrera 7 in the financial district of Bogota, Colombia. The police stated that the ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate - Fuel Oil) was detonated by a remote detonator.
Officials believe that the bomb was hidden in a Chevrolet vehicle parked outside the building. The car was registered as stolen, licence number B00 483.
The blast damaged the 12-floor edifice containing the headquarters of the Caracol domestic media outlet as well as the Spanish EFE news agency; a branch of the Bancolombia Bank also sustained damaged.
Authorities reported that at least nine people were injured in the explosion; their injuries have been described as non-serious.
At 11am (Bogota local time) police officers have evacuated the area and have cordoned off the blast site. There have been no reports of any fatalities thus far.
President Juan Manuel Santos advised Bogotan locals not to panic and stated that it was a terrorist attack, the prime suspects are FARC.
