Refugee Camps and Relief activity in Shikarpur, Pakistan. A number of camps have been setup by private Philanthropists, NGO's, International Charity Organizations and the Pakistani Military. Shikarpur, Pakistan. 29/08/2010
Throughout the city and Outskirts of Shikarpur a number of camps have been setup for the IDP's (Internally Displaced Persons) who have had to flee their homes and villages to escape from the Floods that have ravaged the country. Most of these camps have been setup by Private Philanthropists and NGO's. The remainder have been setup by Foreign Charities and The Pakistani Military. Visibly absent have been relief camps and efforts by the Pakistani Government. Most of the camps have been well managed and food, clothing, basic amenities and medicines have been provided to over 50,000 people.
Meanwhile the road that leads to Jacobabad is still under water, and although work has begun to repair it, it seems it will be another couple of weeks before the city is accessible by road.
