Preparing for Hurricane Earl - Cape Cod, USA

Hurricane Earl is expected stay away from mid-Atlantic states but to closely pass the coasts of New York and Massachusetts.

Officials said the storm has so far caused only minor flooding and power outages on the US mainland.
The National Weather Service said the storm knocked out electricity and caused flooding parts of some barrier islands in North Carolina, where some 80 troops were sent to assist with relief efforts in the region.

As Hurricane Earl heads towards the Cape and Islands Sgt. Patrick Ryan with other members of the army lay sand bag walls to protect buildings from flooding. Hurricane Earl is expected to reach Cape Cod late tonight, Friday 3 September.
