At 76, Jane Goodall, a professor and passionate advocate of conservation and prominent animal protection activist still flies the world over to promote a green environment. She was on a visit to Taiwan this Sunday to meet again with President Ma Ying Jeou during an event at Lao Mei Primary school in Shihmen on the north coast.

Dame Jane Morris Goodall, DBE (born Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall on 3 April 1934), is a British primatologist, ethologist, anthropologist, and UN Messenger of Peace. Considered to be the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees, Goodall is best known for her 45-year study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania. She is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and has worked extensively on conservation and animal welfare issues.

Flanked by Jane’s unconditional emblem – a chimpanzee teddy bear – the two listened to school activities and a policies presentation, and then headed a delegation of roughly 300 local residents to a tree planting event in the pouring rain.

This tour is part of the program “Roots & Shoots" a youth program started in 1991 by the Jane Goodall institute.
