First European Trolleybus Day in Gdynia, part of Trolley pratnership program promoting electric public transport. Gdynia, Poland. 18/09/2010

The first European Trolleybus Day is celebrated in 7 European cities: Salzburg, Brno, Eberswalde, Gdynia, Parma, Leipzig and Szeged.

With this initiative the TROLLEY partnership would like to call attention to trolleybus transport as an important part of sustainable urban mobility in European cities.

The activities range from information campaigns and open days at trolleybus depots to children’s painting competition and sweepstakes on that day.

The TROLLEY partners want to raise the general public’s awareness of trolleybuses as a clean, electricity-based public transport mode and hope that other trolleybus cities will follow their initial starting signal and join the festivities across Europe in the future.

From this year on the European Trolleybus day will be celebrated each year on the first Saturday of the European Mobility Week.
