Hundreds of Greek people took part in the "GREEK RACE FOR THE CURE" annual marathon for breast cancer. The purpose was to increase awareness of breast cancer in women and gather money for research. Athens, Greece. 26/09/2010
Hundreds of Greek women, children and men (even some dogs) took part in the annual "Greek Race For The Cure" despite the hot weather in an effort to increase awareness for a modern threat against woman of all ages - breast cancer.
The participants including some famous people like the mayor of the city of Athens Nikitas kaklamanis, athlete Nikos Kikilias, TV personality Eleonora Meleti with many more anonymous people of all ages including many women who had suffered from cancer or relatives of theirs.
Its the second time that a race like this happened and it was an international effort in over 140 towns all over the world in a common effort with the coordinated by the "Susan G Komen for the Cure" organization. Estimated numbers were over 1.600.000 people taking place.
It started and ended in front of the Zapion megaron in Sydagma square in the city of Athens
