At least 6000 people came to protest outside Althingi on Monday night. Many people came to voice their dissatisfaction over the government's inability to get the economy moving and to solve the problems of those who are in debt after the October 2008 crisis. The protests are being nicknamed the "Barrel Protests" because of the large number of people banging oil drums and other large containers to disturb parliament.
Minister of finance's (Steingrímur J. Sigfússon) car was damaged.
Nobody was arrested.
