Protesters stormed and trashed the offices of the Conservative HQ at Millbank Tower in anger about impending cuts and rises in tuition fees. London, UK. 10/11/2010
30 Millbank Tower will now be synonymous with student discontent at the coalition governments Comprehensive Spending Review. The building was stormed and the windows smashed as students and anarchists raised their fists at the austere measures being instigated by Cameron and his puppet, Nick Clegg. A splinter group from the 'Demo 2010' began burning placards and banners at around 13.30 and gathered momentum shortly after as missiles were thrown, leading to the splintering of the windows, their eventual demise and the occupation of the reception. Police were out numbered and left the protesters to it as they became unable to control the situation.
This event has not only overshadowed the peaceful nature of over 50,000 other students who marched in solidarity with each other but the message that they stood for as well. Tory HQ should not be the main story of the day, with what has been the largest demonstration in the past decade and the greatest resistance to the impending cuts so far. British students are finally following in their French and Greek counterparts footsteps who shake a fist whenever they can. This is by no means the last of events like this. Get set for a turbulent time ahead.
